New Idea

Hey guys...was just thinking about the past contests we've had. Almost everytime at the end of each contest we end up talking about a new one and debating whose track to remix.....why not make it a prize as well to get your track up for remix?
1am-media DJ Contest!
Posted by Pedro (Super Moderator) at Oct 14 2007, 12:01 PM. 21 comments
Hello boys and girls, here comes Pero with a new proposition.
How about after the Spectrum remix contest we have a DJ contest. An organizator alongisde the judges picks 5 songs for the others to mix in and may the best DJ mix win and be featured on top of the forum.
What do you say people, anyone interested in that?

Contest Templates
Posted by kiddk8 (Music Department 4*) at Jul 15 2007, 07:23 PM. 13 comments
I'm interested in starting a dialogue that may improve/refine the template for the contests.
The latest contest has used the optional template after the entries were turned in and judging commenced. My first impulse was to say this was bad - like "surprise, now you know what we were looking for!".
After thinking awhile though - that's the way all contests are afterall. You don't know what they will be looking for really.
So, I'd like to hear what other people think about this. My personal feeling is that it should be spelled out at the beginning of the contest if there are going to be optional parameters exercised. There are plenty of other sites and contests to play "shoot in the dark". In the past though, there have been others who not only didn't agree, but disagreed with the entire template concept altogether.

The Official 1am-media Mix Vol.1!

I just got this smashing idea of us independent underground artists heh, how about we make a nice little official 1am-media mix and let PhoeniX put it into the nDuce software.
To-do list :
- A fellow producer to mix it (I can do it too but if anyone would like to do it instead of me, be my guest.
- At least 4 tracks.
- A nice little debate whether to go with it or not.
What we have :
- Web Hosting at I am Pero, I would proudly host all the necessary files required and trust me there won't be bandwidth issues.
- A lot of talented artists.
Note that this is just a discussion topic, so feel free to pop with any arguments or anything you have on whether this is a good idea or not.
Also take note this is not a sign-up topic so don't sign up with any tracks now. If the discussion is successful we're going with it and I'm opening a new topic and closing this one.
'till next time!

collab contest
Posted by Lqdtrance (Music Department) at Sep 7 2006, 03:11 AM. 18 comments
I was thinking, for the next contest we do we should make it a collab contest. Each entry must be done by 2 members. It could be just like the contests now but the only twist is you and one other member have to work on it together. Each member may only be entered in to one group/couple. It will allow some interesting music types from each other to mend into one nice finished product. What do you all think?
Proposition: Compilation album

The time is drawing near. It's time to give everyone what was promised.
I have come up with a plan (not yet complete) for compilation album sales. Solo albums are down the pipeline but let's first make a good start.
Here's what has been planned till this moment:
- Genre-based as well as mixed-genre albums will be considered for the first project. Reasons: Giving equal oppurtunities to everyone. A lighter project for a start.
- Legalities will be confirmed, contracts will be generated and signed.
- MP3's at the highest quality possible will be recieved and sent to the production facility.
- One CD will contain 8-10 tracks.
Artist payouts:
- All artists will have an equal share of royalties for the album in concern.
- Transparency in royalty generation will be maintained diligently.
- Payouts will most probably be through Paypal system.
I'd be glad to answer further questions. Let's discuss this amicably and sensibly and not by rushing things up the ladder.
Also, each CD will cost $16-$20. Feel free to suggest prices regarding the same.
CD packaging/content details will be provided shortly.
Let's get some views now.
Thank you.
*** As of right now 3 plans are up for discussion:
- Compilation album
- BoomCast and it's future
- Artist websites/pages/portfolios.
I urge all artists to give these three topics a thorough read.
