The time is drawing near. It's time to give everyone what was promised.

I have come up with a plan (not yet complete) for compilation album sales. Solo albums are down the pipeline but let's first make a good start.

Here's what has been planned till this moment:

- Genre-based as well as mixed-genre albums will be considered for the first project. Reasons: Giving equal oppurtunities to everyone. A lighter project for a start.
- Legalities will be confirmed, contracts will be generated and signed.
- MP3's at the highest quality possible will be recieved and sent to the production facility.
- One CD will contain 8-10 tracks.

Artist payouts:

- All artists will have an equal share of royalties for the album in concern.
- Transparency in royalty generation will be maintained diligently.
- Payouts will most probably be through Paypal system.

I'd be glad to answer further questions. Let's discuss this amicably and sensibly and not by rushing things up the ladder.

Also, each CD will cost $16-$20. Feel free to suggest prices regarding the same.

CD packaging/content details will be provided shortly.

Let's get some views now.

Thank you.

*** As of right now 3 plans are up for discussion:

- Compilation album
- BoomCast and it's future
- Artist websites/pages/portfolios.

I urge all artists to give these three topics a thorough read.

Sounds like a plan. I suppose we start by getting everyone in on it. (1am forum members)

Exactly my friend. I have this sinister-ish (:P) plan going on in my head. We need to build solid grounds.

I'm excited too. Once I get done with the "bugs" in my life which will be around the 11th of May, the clay will start taking it's shape.

By the way everyone, I asked about the price of a CD. Is the proposed range good enough?

idk how CD's run now adays but that seems a lil expensive for an amatuer compilation cd... but depending on how much it costs to make the cd, could get better profit with a smaller price because more ppl would buy? idk tho. id say $16 idk the specs n w/e

The production will cost $9-$10 per CD.

Then we'll generate royalties out of it. And so a range of $16-$20 was given.

A friend of mine from the US told me that $16 was the minimum out there.

*She also said $10 would only be under the crap section in a store :P*

I will give it a thorough research though... Don't worry!

Tempestous G posted a question regarding the PayPal system in the "Artist Pages" forum. Quoting a few lines from my answer here again to maintain relevance in here as well...

Also, once the compilation album process starts, you will need to register with PayPal for the payments. When that happens, I will be willing to assist everyone with account setup confusions or any other technical problems encountered whatsoever.

Take a deep relaxing breath soldiers. This is going to take a little while. Why? First off, we (you all and I) need to compose exclusive music that will not be displayed anywhere on the internet, including sites like ACIDplanet, Soundclick, etc. as all that music will be copyrighted and  everyone participating in this album release will sign a contract for the same. Mass distribution prohibited.

OK! ALL

My first post! A few suggestions if you don't mind.

I feel comfortable with the album price as long as we cann hear the tracks before hand. Here in the US many stores offer this by scanning the UPC on a player that is connected to a database where the tracks are stored. We would obviously have some different options. But my point is that when I search for new music I don't want to be paying $16-20 for 1 or 2 songs that I like. Money is tight and a CD should be worth the money spent. Some sort of selectible streaming engine similar to BoomCast can work nicely with clickable info and artist information would be a definite plus. I am very excited about the idea.

We may also have a competition for the Compilation Album's artwork. At least the bulk of the imagery so the title and stuff can be easily added later. The should be some 'Staff' associated with the final call on the art production etc. WE can flesh it out more later. There are many templates out there for use with Photoshop, InDesign and the like.

As for BoomCast... I think it needs a lot of work. As it exists its pretty bland and not very user friendly. It lacks much functionality. AOL Radio is an awesome example of something that would be good. Links gallore! Not sure how to build something like it but it would be a definite WOW factor thing.

Anyway, just a few ideas for now. Check you out on some of the other threads.

Peace!

The cd price here in the states is around $16 at the cheapest. Average is around $18 and for a good known artist it goes for around $21. I havent really had a chance to read more into this or really play around (kids). But from what I gather it is all going in the right directions. :D
