Anyone played this one yet? Need For Speed: Pro Street I got it on Monday, and this thing is awesome on the graphics. But the gameplay is nowwhere even near the levels of the previous installments. Is that really the fact or is it just me, all jaded? |

we have this one at the cafe where i work. gameplay is somewhat similar to the Gran Turismo series on PS...except it's not a simulator which really takes away from the idea of racing on a track. graphics are really hot (except for the gloss paper effect on the cars). local gamers rate it very poorly to be honest. |

^ I feel like that too... Half of the things in the game don't make sense at all. - You can't drift with the Evos. - You need at least 4 different cars for any event to even begin. - You cannot use the same car(s) for different types of races. - You cannot leave an event without repairing your broken car. - You cannot switch race modes for cars without losing all the mods you made to it resulting in huge loss of cash. - Even the best and toughest of races have the most meager amounts of cash rewards. - Everything is closed circuit. - Even if you buy a Ford Shelby GT 500 and mod the hell out of it, it will fail to perform in a Speed Challenge. It will own in the Drag mode though. - You cannot do any body or graphic mods to a Nissan Skyline GTR Proto. - Throughout the entire game you never make enough money to buy the Lamborghini Murcielago... And the Pagani Zonda is priced so high, you'd have to beat the game 5 times just to barely make enough cash to buy the stock version. - No matter how powerful your car is, the rival - Ryo Watanabe (can also be pronounced as "What-A-Noobie" or "What-A-Nob", frikkin bastid!) will ALWAYS outrun you in the final Speed Challenge using just his lame arse Evo X which looks like some Japanese chic ate bad sushi and puked out a load of crap. - No matter how weak your car is or even if you don't have a single shot of NOS, you can ALWAYS outrun Ryo near the last turn of the first final Speed Challenge. - You just CANNOT skip through some of the cutscene videos. The ones you can skip, you'll need to press the ENTER key or the ESC key or both of them together several times. - You CANNOT modify a car you won in a challenge without losing ALL of its modifications first. - If you do not Dominate an event and leave it, you have to start again from zero points. - You have 55 cars in the game and NOT a single Gallardo, Aston Martin, Mercedez or a Vauxhall. - Mazda RX-8 is costlier and has higher specs in stock than a RX-7. Boot! - You just HAVE to play the "Heat Your Tires" traction game before each and every drag race. - You just HAVE to go through 3 separate runs in drags and drifts. - The interface menu is graphically sweet but is terrible in functionality. You cannot understand what the hell is going on within the menu at the first few looks. - The game uses around 8 GBs of hard disk space and there isn't anything that is graphically more enticing than what we had in Most Wanted. Other than the damage models, which cannot account for an extra 4 GB space alone. - Changing the names of the components does not make the game any more "pro". The Transmission is now called the Drivetrain suddenly. Turbos are collectively called Forced Induction (get a load of that ****). - The frikkin spoilers cost more than chrome rims!!! - Racing Seats have absolutely no effect on the performance of the car but it is advised that you spend 3000 bucks on them because they keep you safe during tight turns and shocks. Okay... I AM PLAYING A FRIKKING GAME. Most of the times at extremely low volumes at night. I think I can get away with having no speakers, leave alone having no frikkin racing seats! - The game does not run even well enough at 800 x 600, 75 Hz on an AMD Athlon 64, 2 gigs of RAM and 512 MB of video memory, with the world details all set to low, car effects turned low, most of the other stuff turned to low as well. And there is absolutely nothing in the game that can explain the lack of performance of the game engine. I know the game looks freakin sweet but it's not THAT sweet! - The whole story behind the game is that you got dissed by a short Asian man who will probably die of a fart attack. - No matter what you name your Career alias in the game, you are ALWAYS "Ryan Cooper". - The vocal acting and narration in the game is not only terrible, but redundant, blunt, idiotic and inaccurate and sounds like one those preps who pretend to follow the "urban" culture. - When I say the vocal acting and narration through the game is redundant, I mean, the announcer/super stupid dude with da mic will say out your name "Ryan Cooper" a million times during a given race. And he will ALWAYS say out the full name for some reason. - When I say the vocal acting is inaccurate, I mean, the game just cannot seem to judge what the hell is going on in the game. Even if I post thrice the score than the guy who came in second, I can, on most occasions, hear "Ohhhh! Looks like Ryan Cooper is havin quite a struggle out there. This is disappointing. I'm sure Ryan Cooper is not happy with today's run." WTF are you saying beech? I just posted a 4800 point drift when the max the next guy could do in 3 consecutive runs was 1700!!! Dayum. I am seriously p'd off. First EA gives us Underground 2 then it goes much higher by giving us Most Wanted. Then it falls really low to Carbon and now this. And as if having more ads and banners in the game after every pixel wasn't enough you can actually pay real cash online to unlock the best cars even before you start racing. Wow! |

I just don't get a kick from a closed circuit run, ya know? The same way I don't get a kick from tea either. In fact, whenever I had the option to skip a circuit run in Underground 2, Most Wanted or Carbon, I skipped it with a grin on my face! Drifts and drags on a predetermined track are understandable, that's the proper way to do it anyway. In fact, I like the concept of drag races in Pro Street better than any other version. No traffic - That was a major peeve of mine with all the previous versions. Who the hell runs a drag through a peak traffic piece of road? What I seriously don't like about it though is the fact that you have to run thrice on the same track just to see if you can post the best time. WTF? You either win or you don't, it's simple. Where's the frikkin mystery involved? The same with drifts. |

Well, the best NFS is NFS Underground and drifting rules man...it's all about skill, for example take a let's say a car that can go 200 miles per hour and a car that can go 150 miles per hour...if there is an experienced drifter in the second car, the second car can defeat the first one in no time :p. Drifting rules! And The Fast and Furious 3 : Tokyo Drift, rulesah as well :D. |

PC, PS2, PS3, XBox and Wii It does better on a high end PC though. As do all other NFS titles, similarly. |
