K....this could get extended but for now heres what ill say Do you want a full on dj setup with real turntables and computer software to control it? for that ull need turntables or CDJS and a DVS common examples: Torq,Serato Do you want a midi controller with a mix software?....then your looking at something like the Vestax VC1-100 with something like Torq or even programs like Virtual DJ In short heres a bunch of software names that just came to mind Virtual DJ PCDJ M-audio Torq Serato Scratch Ableton live(no scratching or virtual turntables) Mixman...terribly basic Hercules Software...i think they also make hardware check up anything on digital djing on google..or go on djforums under the digital dj section...i'm 'Shish there...its a dope forum if u really wanna get in depth...peace |

In the case you mention, the things TPS said still applies. There's lots of ways to go about it. I've used Virtual DJ software with Hercules controllers before. Not a bad feel to it at all as far as comparing to old school vinyl mixing although it does take some practice and getting used to. I've also used TraktorStudio3 with Hercules controllers. Despite that being the more popular software, I actually preferred the simplicty of Virtual DJ a little more for my taste. And actually - I have seen people DJ using Ableton Live. I don't know much about it in that mode but it does have features that can be used to do that in Live mode through midi triggering. You might look into it some since you already own that software. You can't go wrong with some nice CDJs and a conventional mixer though Just gets pretty expensive going that route. |
