K,i will be honest,i used to HATE goa in the beginning but now i just cant get enough of it.I have heard Mahadeva but it didnt really appeal me.Now,i was tuning around the last.fm radio and had a listen to this track..Astral Projection-1,000,000 years from now. This track is so good that i am hooked to it now....another i would like to talk about is Psysex-Altered States X(damn awesome track). My only complain about Goa and psy is that its too repetitive(even more than melodic trance)Any suggestions?I mean some more artists i should listen to? |

Mahadeva is a classic and if you don't like that, you probably don't like goa at all but seek some cheesy "euro-like" goa which doesn't have a true groove at all. There are two main things important about goa trance and those are: the groove and it's spirituality. The bassline has to be "in-your-face" raw hard rolling bassline and it may seem repetitive to you but actually the complexity of the entire goa track structure is in it's "repetitive" elements. Try to make a real goa track and you might even experience something far further then you imagine. Anyhow, the only thing I don't comprehend is how's that you're from India and didn't find goa trance appealing (with the fact that you like electronic music taken in consideration)? |

I thought it was a prerequisite of this forum to have a love for goa or psy trance before you could sign up
lol Edit: btw the '99 mix of Mahadeva is amazing, better than the original version imho |

It's very possible. Mahadeva is a track that is a classic because of its powerful straight drive kind of music and more or less the liking for it is symbolic of a "cult" based appreciation. It's one of those tracks that never fade out with time. Tracks 100 times better than such may be created, but nothing beats them.
Entirely subjective. Depends on the track and the vibe and mood of it. However, usually, melodic trance tracks are more repetitive, in context of their musical composition, as compared to Goa or Psy tracks. Cannot say that Psy isn't too repetitive, most of it is. But then you have some really kick-arse tracks that prove the point wrong. Listen to "Coolio" by Astrix or "Party Pooper" by Eskimo for example. Goa is repetitive because of two reasons: i) It is meant to be so as it is composed in a way to permeate through you slowly and get you up and moving with a consistent rhythm and then really making you go high. ii) Repetition is also byproduct of complex progressions that move around at subtle levels.
Before we suggest a list of good tracks, I'd like to say I agree with Pero when he says that you seek some cheesy "euro-style" neo Goa, speculating from the nature of your post. In any case, stuff by Astral Projection, Talamasca, Electric Universe, Goasis etc. are what you should check out. Especially Solid Electronics by Astral Projection. |

omg seriously awesome track The repetitive thing i guess, over time u get used to it, because i just simply cant get bored of psytrance XD As witch Goa i believe there are more layers as the track progresses from what i hear most of the time, but nothing beats the old skool tracks imo Heres a few recommendations from a psy point of view (In more melodic kinda terms, not the dark or prog stuff)Alien Project Space Cat GMS Growling Machines Atomic Pulse Vibe Tribe Dual Core Planet B.E.N. 1200 Micrograms Eskimo Quadra Perplex Protoculture Alternative Control Ananda Shake Psytrain Deedrah Dynamic Wizzy Noise Xerox & Illumination Pixel Overlap Mekkanikka aaand if you want something more close to progressive trance try John '00' Fleming Should keep u entertained and from these few artists u will most likely find more u like
