ok right now i am planning on purchasing a nice mac. i have also been planning a daw upgrade. on mac, im looking at logic studio and ableton live suite. I really like ableton, but from what i have heard/read about logic, it would be horribly stupid of me to just rule it out. is anyone familiar with both? pros/cons? alternatively, what has been your experience with the daw (logic or ableton) that you have. keep in mind that im coming from a windows pc with acid software. :D

I have never used a Mac. I have never used Logic. I own Ableton Live 6 but rarely use it anymore in favor of some other software.

I could research a bit but I would only be puking back what I read.

I guess I'm not much help but I wanted to respond at least

If you had a bit of money to drop and you are setting up the Mac to be a music station, I would get a high-end M-Audio sound card and use Pro-Tools myself :)

My best guess is that if you're coming from an ACID background, you'll find Ableton Live somewhat better suited to your workflow. I'm an FL user, I have Ableton Live Lite, and I hated it. However, I have ACID too and I rarely use it. I'm thinking you'll enjoy Ableton more.
